NCERT issues advisory on unauthorised use of textbook content.

The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has issued a cautionary advisory concerning the unauthorised use of its educational materials. NCERT has observed instances where certain publishers have been reproducing its textbook content without proper authorisation and attribution. It’s essential for all stakeholders to adhere to copyright regulations and seek permission before utilising NCERT content.

NCERT is entrusted with the development and distribution of textbooks across all levels of school education and is recognised as the official repository of educational resources. Any unauthorised commercial use of NCERT content will be subject to legal action under the Copyright Act 1957. Additionally, NCERT advises against the use of pirated textbooks, as their accuracy and alignment with the National Curriculum Framework 2023 cannot be guaranteed.

Individuals encountering pirated materials are encouraged to report them to NCERT via email. Publishers seeking to incorporate the NCERT name in their publications must submit a proposal to the Publication Division of NCERT. This advisory serves as a reminder to uphold copyright laws and safeguard the integrity of educational materials.
