Syllabus & Exam Pattern 2024

MPPSC syllabus is set by Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC). The commission conducts a Combined Competitive Examination (CCE) for the recruitment of officers and employees for various departments of the Madhya Pradesh Government.

The MPPSC Exam (State Service Exam) is held in three stages.

MPPSC Prelims Syllabus

Similar to UPSC Prelims, MPPSC (State Service Exam) Prelims 2020-21 will be a screening process. The marks obtained by the candidates in this preliminary stage will not be considered in the final merit list. MPPSC Pre Syllabus has similar elements as that in UPSC Prelims.

MPPSC Mains Syllabus

Those candidates who clear the MPPSC Pre will take the Mains 2020. The Cut-Off decided by the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission will determine who all will proceed to the next stage of the State Service Exam i.e. MPPSC Mains.

MPPSC Mains GS-I will include the following:

  1. History part will include topics like World History, Indian History, Medieval Indian History, Modern Indian History with special focus on British Invasion, Indian Freedom Struggle and Post-Independence Struggle.
  2. Culture part will include topics like Indian Culture and Heritage with special reference to Madhya Pradesh.
  3. Geography part will focus on Indian Geography (Both Physical and Human), Soil, and Food Processing Industries.
  4. Disaster Management is an important topic too. Focus on areas like Man-Made Disasters, Community Planning and Case Studies.

The general studies 1 of the MPPSC Mains syllabus has topics that overlap with IAS Mains GS 1 syllabus to some extent. BYJU’S came up with the UPSC Mains GS 1 strategy from which MPPSC candidates too can inspiration and align their preparation accordingly.

MPPSC Mains GS-II will include the following:

  1. The Constitution part will include topics like Fundamental Rights, Directive Principles of State Policies (DPSPs), Centre and State Legislatures, Judiciary, Panchayati Raj.
  2. For Social Legislation, focus more on current bills passed by the state and the central cabinet and the ones in a debate.
  3. Under Social Sector segment, topics like Health Services, Technological Interventions in the field of family health fetch marks.
  4. An aspirant should read about Education Systems with special focus on current updates on Elementary Education and issues related to girl education.
  5. A simple reading of topics like HRD, International Organisations will suffice.
